Amanda Thrift Named Volunteer of the Year

01/06/2023

FCCU is proud to announce this year's Volunteer of the Year, Amanda Thrift, Jamestown Retail Manager.

In recent years, FCCU launched a volunteer program where employees track the number of hours they volunteer outside of work. Whether it is helping at church, coaching basketball, or volunteering at the local humane society, FCCU encourages, recognizes and rewards staff who are involved in their communities.

Amanda volunteered more than 170 hours in the Jamestown and surrounding communities in 2022. She actively participates in Kiwanis, Prairie Paws Rescue and Jamestown Tourism in addition to volunteering at FCCU events.

When asked why she feels it is important to volunteer, Thrift says, “My parents taught us from a young age, through leading by example, that it is important to get involved and make a difference in areas that matter to us.” She continues, “If I’m able to use some of my time and energy to make an impact on my community while focusing on something I am passionate about, it’s a win for everyone. When I moved back to Jamestown area in 2013, I decided to get involved in Kiwanis and Prairie Paws Rescues, which has led to many great friendships, connections and other volunteering opportunities over the years. I am thankful to be working for an organization who is as passionate about our community as I am and supports my involvement.”

FCCU staff accumulated and tracked nearly 2,700 volunteer hours during 2022. The following staff in each region with top volunteer hours were also recognized.

  • Bismarck Market: Katie Nehl, Communications Manager- 118 hours with church, BisMan Young Professionals, UMary mentoring, local FCCU events, Dakota Credit Union Foundation and other volunteer work
  • South Market: Candace Bader, Branch Manager- 75 hours with church, the fire department, local and FCCU events
  • Grand Forks Market: Dana Jonsson, Crookston Branch Manager- 139 hours with the Chamber, Lions, FCCU and local events
  • Lake Region Market: Rod Braun, Retail Manager- 50 hours with church, running the school score board and FCCU events

FCCU extends a huge thank you to all staff that gives pieces of their time to their communities and we look forward to serving our communities for years to come.
