Born and raised on a farm in small town eastern, SD, Derek’s love for Agriculture and Business began at a young age. To this day, his parents still farm and ranch, which has instilled strong, hardworking values as well as a strong understanding of what it takes to run an agriculture operation. A graduate of Concordia College, Derek has been in the financial services industry since 2002 and joined the FCCU team in 2022. He says, “working with business owners, farmers and community partners is something I look forward to every day.” Married to his talented and creative wife Kayla, together they have 3 children.  They love spending time together as a family on the lake, operating vacation rental properties, and watching sports especially cheering on the UND Fighting Hawks. In his free time, Derek enjoys hunting, spending time with family, and watching and playing sports especially football, basketball and baseball.  He also loves harvest time and says there is “nothing better than being in the field in the fall.”
